NCTA does an Advisors Spotlight On ATCOM’s John Cameron
“John began his professional career in the United States Navy as a Submarine Nuclear Engineer where he was awarded several citations including the Navy Achievement Medal for service. Following the completion of Active Duty and Honorable Discharge, John furthered his career in science by attended and graduating from East Carolina University with a degree in Industrial Technology. During his college attendance the internet explosion occurred, and John refocused to IP networking. John served as a student employee for the School of Technology, and was one of the primary architects of the first distance learning and online masters programs for a state university; as well as establishing some of the first internet-based systems that came online for ECU. John has held several key technology positions over his 20 years’ experience in the field of IT with organizations and companies such as SMARTHOUSE, BB&T, IBM, and his current position with ATCOM Business Technology Solutions.
John and his wife Jean enjoy living in their no longer little town of Wake Forest, and enjoy travelling to our nation’s nation parks. Favorite activities include golf, snowboarding and the occasional trip to the family beach retreat in Nags Head, NC. Their daughter Alex is a current sophomore attending North Carolina State University.”
